Library Resources in Blackboard - LTIs and best practices
Introduction
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is an education technology standard developed by the IMS Global Learning Consortium. It enables courseware and different learning tools to be launched within a Learning Management System (LMS). The biggest advantage of LTI integration is that it allows the learner to seamlessly move from one tool to the other. The most recent version of LTI is 1.3, which was released in 2019. In a nutshell, the LTI standard enables the secure exchange of information between the LMS and many types of external tools, content, and activities.
The SRSU Library has recently enabled and is testing two new LTI applications in Blackboard. These apps allow you to integrate library resources, including databases, research guides, articles, and eBooks, directly into your course. Currently, the apps are listed in the Build Content area in Blackboard, and are called SRSU LibApps(Embed LibGuides, Databases) and SRSU EBSCO(Embed articles and eBooks).
