Copyright Guidelines for Students: Open Resources

Open Resources List

When using text/images/music/video for educational purposes, you must always follow the Copyright Law. It is recommended to use material that is subscribed by the Sul Ross State University, has a Creative Commons or Open Access license, is in the public domain, or meets with Fair Use guidelines. Full attribution must be always given.

If you are not able to find materials that are owned by the University, are in the public domain, have a Creative Commons or Open Access license, or meet Fair Use guidelines, then you will need to request permission to use these materials.

Search our list of Open Access and public domain sources for materials to use without restrictions, or our list of free resources to find freely available materials that may come with restrictions on performance or distribution. Please read the terms of use for all resources and abide by the conditions outlined by the author/copyright holder.
