Envisioning a Library for the Future of RGC

Working Guide for the Working Group

Invitation to the Working Group to Envision a Library for the Future of RGC

As announced at the RGC Faculty meeting on Tuesday, March 28, the MOU that SRSU-RGC held with the Southwest Texas Junior College Library will be dissolved effective August 31, 2023. With your help, the staff of the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library will create a plan to promote, enhance, and evolve existing library services and resources to RGC in Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass effective September 1, 2023.

You are invited to join a working group to discuss and make recommendations for Library and Archives staff to:

  • Promote (to increase awareness and use of) existing library services and resources by students, faculty, and staff in Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass
  • Enhance and improve library services and resources for students, faculty, and staff in Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass
  • Evolve library services and resources for students, faculty, and staff in Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass

 The Working Group will be led by Director of Library and Archives Betsy Helesic and Head of Systems and Access Mike Fernandez. Working Group meetings will be held on MS Teams on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30 starting Wednesday, April 26. The first meeting will be introductory and will help establish a timeline for additional meetings leading up to September 1, 2023.

At each meeting, we will establish norms to promote successful collaboration, including:

  • Brief introductions of those participating;
  • Guidelines to keep the conversations on track (respecting the allocated time, being present and polite, and having fun);
  • Use of a "Parking Lot" to keep track of runaway topics or unanswered questions; and
  • Identifying opportunities for reflection to consider how our discussions overlap and bump into other aspects of the University
